Simplyhealth to sponsor Masquerade for Macmillan Ball

Macmillan Cancer Support is back with its Masquerade Ball and the need for local support is more important than ever as in Leeds, more than 3,700 people hear the devastating news that they have cancer every year1.

Sponsored for a third year by healthcare provider Simplyhealth, the Masquerade for Macmillan Ball will take place on Saturday 12 September 2015 at the Marriot Hotel in Leeds to help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

According to analysis revealed earlier this year, by 2020 almost one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives2. Money raised from the ball will go towards funding a Macmillan nurse to support families that are receiving medical treatment for life threatening and sometimes terminal illnesses.

This year’s Masquerade Ball is set to be a spectacular event and the perfect end to the summer. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Simplyhealth for sponsoring for a third year. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the tremendous amount of local support that we receive.

We’ve been supporters of Macmillan for many years ranging from holding coffee mornings to donating our contact centre’s staff, time and skillset to call individuals preparing for the Leeds 10k run.

We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Masquerade ball in Leeds to support Macmillan services in West Yorkshire in making a difference to those affected by cancer. We hope that the event raises a fantastic amount of money for Macmillan and that an enjoyable night is had by all!

“This measure is for all cancers combined excluding non-melanoma skin cancer. The cancer incidence statistics in the table show the average number and the rate of new cases of cancer diagnosed per year. For example, in the UK, 322,823 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in males and females, which is equivalent to an age-standardised rate of 402.8 new cases per 100,000 population.

“Data definitions:
No.Cases – The number of newly diagnosed cases of cancer per year. This is the annual average for 2008-2010.
Rate and UK average – The incidence rates displayed above are age-standardised. This takes into account variation in the age.”
