Inspiring the next generation on International Women’s Day

To celebrate International Women’s Day and National Careers Week, Simplyhealth’s Chief Customer Officer Kate Thornton spoke to over 300 Year 8 pupils at Kings School in Winchester. There she inspired them with her story about how she pursued her passions to build a successful career and why being bold and brave is so important.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #BalanceforBetter, which encourages people around the world to Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change.

It was a pleasure to speak to the students at Kings School this morning as they start to think about their life after school. I believe that pursuing what makes you happy and having confidence is key and that actually it’s ok if they don’t have everything all planned out right now, because life can take you in all sorts of directions. I went from learning Finnish to a decade at British Airways before joining Simplyhealth which is a very purposeful company, aligned to the values that I believe in. If hearing my story has helped the students in any way I’ll be really pleased.

We are really grateful to Simplyhealth and Kate Thornton for making the time to come in today. Outside speakers with compelling stories are so much more powerful than we can be.
