New Board members bring a wealth of experience to Simplyhealth
Simplyhealth, the UK’s leading health cash plan and dental plan provider, has welcomed a new Chairman and two new senior directors to its Board to help oversee key decisions for the new decade and beyond.
At the end of 2019, Gil Baldwin replaced Ken Piggott as Chairman, who had previously spent nine years in the role. Gil brings with him years of experience and success in senior roles in the healthcare industry.
Jenny Knott and Tracy Dunley-Owen have also joined the Board as Non Executive Directors and between them have significant experience in the finance and technology industries.
The new arrivals add to the well-balanced expertise and diversity of a Board that is key to Simplyhealth’s success. The talent, skills and experience of members form the backbone of the organisation and collectively they have a large impact on business performance.
Jenny Knott is a qualified accountant and has held senior board level roles including Chief Executive, Chief Finance Officer and Chief Operational Officer during the last 20 years, predominantly in the banking sector.
She has extensive experience in financial technology and has built a reputation as an advocate of technical modernisation in the financial services sector. She was named as one of the top 100 influencers by Financial Technologist in 2018.
I’m excited to be joining Simplyhealth and I am looking forward to working with my Board colleagues to explore growth opportunities for the business through digital development. There will be some interesting commercial discussions ahead, exploring how we can use cutting edge tools and platforms which will benefit Simplyhealth customers. Today, people find healthcare in the UK difficult to access and complex, but through our vision and strategy we can help address these challenges and put individuals back in control of their health
Tracy Dunley-Owen, will chair the Audit Committee, and is a qualified accountant who has built a career on both commercial finance and transformational roles across diverse industries, including working for Old Mutual in the UK and South Africa. Tracy has held several Chief Finance Officer roles and today she is also a Non Executive Director at Nucleus Financial Group Plc and Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada.
I’m thrilled to be joining the Simplyhealth Board. I was attracted to Simplyhealth’s purpose and commitment to improving affordable, easy access to healthcare. With my strong interest in health, technology and transformation I am looking forward to exploring further growth opportunities and investments with the rest of the Board. It’s important to the whole company and our customers that we’re making the right long term decisions for the future of the business
Notes to Editors
Since 1872 we’ve been helping people get healthcare through our health plans, charity partnerships and by being a voice in healthcare. Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading provider of health plans, dental plans and pet health plans, which help individuals, families, employees and pets to get support with their health when they need it.
We don’t have shareholders which means we are totally focused on making sure no one goes without the healthcare support they need, and why we are passionate about being a voice in healthcare and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality. We have a commitment to donate part of our pre-tax profits to charities or community projects each year and spread our donations across a wide range of healthcare-related charities.
In 2019 we became Official Healthcare Partner of England Rugby, a partnership that will help us deliver on our purpose and improve access to healthcare for the rugby community.
