New play tunnel inspires even more pre-school learning

Youngsters at Longparish Little School are now having even more fun while learning thanks to a donation from everyday health company Simplyhealth.

Simplyhealth, which has offices in Andover and Winchester, donated £1,100 to the pre-school to buy a new outdoor play tunnel.

We’re the title partner of the Great Run series because we want to get more people moving to better their everyday health by running, jogging or simply moving together, which is why it’s fantastic to see the children playing in their new tunnel. We hope they enjoy many more hours of fun!
Colin Perry, Chair of Simplyhealth’s Andover Community Fund
Our new tunnel is a great way to get the children moving and using their large muscles to crawl and climb. It’s also a fantastic resource to develop imagination, social skills and communication. So far it’s been a horse, a train and a space rocket!

Longparish Little School would like to thank Simplyhealth for the donation which has contributed to our excellent learning environment. The children say it’s ‘great and we love moving about in it’.

Claire Nash, Longparish Little School Manager

The tunnel was installed on Tuesday 31st October 2017.

About Simplyhealth

Since 1872 – long before the existence of the NHS – we’ve been helping people to make the most of life, by managing their everyday health needs. We’re proud to be the leading provider of health cash plans, dental payment and pet health plans. Whereas once we were known purely for cash plans, we now offer a wide range of products and services to cater for peoples’ everyday health needs – now and into the future.

Helping people make the most of life is our sole purpose and giving back is a huge part of that. In 2016 we were able to donate over £1.7 million to help support charities like Revitalise, Brainwave, Auditory Verbal and RNIB. Our future success and performance will enable us to deliver our ongoing pledge to donate 10% of our profits to charity every year.

Simplyhealth is a trading name of Simplyhealth Access, which is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

About Longparish Little School

Longparish Playgroup started in 1988 in the Sports and Social Club behind the Village Hall. In November 2005 we moved into our permanent home - a purpose built annexe of Longparish School with its own fenced off outside area. We are a very rural setting looking out onto fields.

In 2017 we changed the name of the playgroup to Little School. We also changed our logo to one of a tree with owls. This is to reflect our ethos of 'Helping Your Child Grow Through Play.' We believe that children learn best when they can engage and explore play that interests and excites them. We operate a free flow system, where the children can choose the areas in which they like to play both inside and outside. Both our inside and outside areas have opportunities for messy play, role play, mark making, sharing books, music, building and small world play.

We are run by a management committee made up of mainly parents of the children attend the Little School. Although we are attached to Longparish Primary School, we are a separate business. Attending the Little School does not mean you will automatically get a place within the school. However being on the school site does mean we foster good relationships with the school, we therefore can share resources and experiences.
