It is pleasing to see that the private medical insurance market is beginning to show small signs of recovery, as highlighted in the latest Laing and Buisson health cover report.

“At Simplyhealth we have concentrated on updating our private medical insurance offering to both employers and individuals. We recognise that the economic environment and changing NHS is affecting the benefits and level of choice that people expect from private medical insurance. Our offering now provides more flexibility so customers can build their policy to meet their needs and budget.

“We have been providing self funded health plans for over 25 years and this remains a strong part of our offering. The control and flexibility over benefits and cost is the main attraction for larger employers wanting to provide a bespoke private medical insurance plan to their employees.

“We expected to see a continued rise in the employer paid health cash plan market, and the report shows that this has grown by 15.4%. Our own experience in this sector shows that employers now recognise that health cash plans can help them care for the health and wellbeing of their staff, minimise absence and deal with issues such as stress and musculoskeletal conditions.

“We recognise that if the healthcare market is to strengthen it needs all providers to listen to customers, employers and intermediaries so we can effectively adapt to the changing environment.”

Simplyhealth offers health cash plans, dental plans and private medical insurance to individuals, families and companies.
