Simplyhealth donates Chromebooks to charity to improve digital literacy in the community

Simplyhealth have donated 40 Chromebook laptops to Unity, an Andover-based charity, to support community groups across Test Valley.

As part of the Digital Inclusion Project at Unity, the Chromebooks will support people in the Test Valley area to become more digitally literate and improve their confidence when online.

It’s fantastic that we’re able to gift these Chromebooks due to changes in our IT equipment, to those in the community who need them the most.

It’s part of our purpose to support community causes, and we are delighted to be able to support Unity with this donation.
John Ali, Head of Brand at Simplyhealth

First established in 1987, Unity is a non-profit incorporated UK charity part-funded by Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council, working with local organisations to support vulnerable members of the Test Valley Community.

Our thanks to Simplyhealth for generously providing Unity with over 40 Chromebooks. Our digital team will be able to use them in the community to help people who are not digitally able to learn and access the internet, shop online and perhaps even connect to family and friends. This project could enhance people’s lives particularly if they are feeling lonely or isolated and need that little bit of help. Simplyhealth are simply the best!
Terry Bishop, Chief Executive at Unity

Simplyhealth also donated 200 Chromebooks at the beginning of the year to help local families with home learning through lockdown. We are a purpose-led company who support communities across the UK by improving access to healthcare, through charitable giving and colleague volunteering.

About Simplyhealth

Since 1872, we’ve been helping people make the most of life through better everyday health. Our plans make sure individuals, families and employees can easily access in-person and virtual wellbeing services, and afford to stay healthy by claiming costs back on dental treatments, visits to the optician, complementary therapies and much more.

Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading health solutions company, with almost 1000 colleagues serving 2.3 million customers. We don’t have shareholders, so we’re led by our purpose of improving access to healthcare, for the many, for the long term. We’re passionate about using our voice in public health affairs and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality – each year we commit to giving 10% of pre-tax profits to a range of community causes. And we ensure our business takes care of the planet too, achieving Carbon Neutral + status in 2021.
