Simplyhealth fundraise for community food pantry
Simplyhealth have fundraised and donated food to a local food pantry which is part of Romsey Community Services (RCS), to support local families in need.
The IT team at Simplyhealth put together an internal collection to raise a total of £380 to spend on food to donate to the food pantry. This money purchased every day essentials and perishables such as milk, cheese, butter and bread, and also freezer goods including pizza, fish fingers and more.
Part of RCS, the community food pantry is open to anyone who is struggling in the local area. Each person can shop once a week at the pantry and select items from the tinned and dry goods, and fresh and frozen foods, worth up to a minimum of £15. A team of volunteers are at the pantry during the week to receive food donations.
Simplyhealth will be match funding, bringing the total raised to £760 which will further support the food pantry in the coming weeks.
Simplyhealth recently donated 200 chromebooks to Romsey Community Services. When I was there dropping off the equipment, they explained the work they do to support Andover residents.
No one should go hungry, especially in difficult times like these. By fundraising, we’ve been able to help several families with everyday staples such as milk, butter, bread and freezer goods - items some of us take for granted. I’m so proud to work in a caring team and company that has been able to support some of the most vulnerable families in the area.
Since 1872 we’ve been helping people get healthcare through our health plans, charity partnerships and by being a voice in healthcare. Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading provider of health and dental plans, which help individuals, families and employees to get support with their health when they need it.
We don’t have shareholders which means we are totally focused on making sure no one goes without the healthcare support they need, and why we are passionate about being a voice in healthcare and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality. We have a commitment to donate part of our pre-tax profits to charities or community projects each year and spread our donations across a wide range of healthcare-related charities.
In 2019 we became Official Healthcare Partner of England Rugby, a partnership that will help us deliver on our purpose and improve access to healthcare for the rugby community.
