Simplyhealth launches Smile Centre for Denplan customers

Simplyhealth, the UK’s leading health and dental plans provider has launched an online portal exclusively for its Denplan customers.

The Smile Centre offers a range of dental help and advice including what do to in a dental emergency and where to find the nearest Denplan dentist.

Customers can also access ‘My Dental Score’ which provides a free online score, giving a snapshot of your current oral health - helping to raise awareness of the connection between the health of teeth and gums and your overall health. Worryingly, research carried out by Simplyhealth reveals that 1 in 20 people admit to never visiting a dentist*, while 52% say they would cancel an appointment due to financial worries*.

The Smile Centre also includes hints and tips in the ‘My Teeth’ section to support the whole family with their oral health. It provides advice on how to care for teeth and gums, as well as activities to get children involved in tooth brushing and tips for parents.

Pam Whelan, Director of Corporate at Simplyhealth
The health of your teeth and gums has an impact on your overall health, which is why it’s so important to encourage employees to take a proactive and preventative approach to their oral health.

Our award-winning Denplan dental payment plans make it easy for employees to access the dental treatments they need – regardless of whether they receive NHS treatment or private dentist care. By repaying the costs of employees’ dental check-ups, appointments and treatments including fillings, crowns and bridges, staff are more likely to take better care of themselves amidst the increasing pressures of everyday work.

The Smile Centre was launched following the success of myWellbeing, a similar service available on Simplyhealth’s corporate health plans which offers access to a 24/7 online GP service, expert health information and gym membership discounts.

Simplyhealth champions health-related projects that support the health network in the UK. Since 2016, it has supported the Teeth Team charity. The initiative helps to remove barriers to child oral health in socially deprived communities by taking dentists into schools to carry out regular dental check-ups and educate children about the importance of daily brushing, good oral health and how it can have an impact on their overall health. Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading provider of health plans, dental plans and pet health plans, which help individuals, families, employees and pets to get support with their health when they need it.

Our health plans enable businesses to look after their employees, and make it easy for people to maintain their health and wellbeing, so they can look after business. We offer two types of preventative health plans:

- Optimise: our health plan, covering a range of treatments including visits to the optician, dentist, 24/7 GP services and more

We don’t have shareholders which means we are totally focused on making sure no one goes without the healthcare support they need, and why we are passionate about being a voice in healthcare and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality.

Last year we donated £900,000 to our charity partners. Additionally, our partnership with the Simplyhealth Great Run Series raised over £40 million for charitable causes. To find out more visit www.simplyhealth.co.uk/businesses
