Simplyhealth refreshes GP benefit with new web app service

Simplyhealth, the UK’s leading provider of health and dental plans, has refreshed its online GP access with the launch of a GP web app service.

The addition of myGP Surgery on Simplyhealth’s Optimise health plan makes getting a GP appointment even easier and more convenient for employees by enabling 24/7, unlimited access to practising GPs, and now with the new options of video consultations, messaging a doctor and the ability to request an appointment using an online booking form.

Finding healthcare services is also easier with the addition of a location service to search for nearby GP surgeries, dentists, hospitals and pharmacies. Employees can also browse more than 1,100 topics from its online Health Information Service, providing the UK’s largest source of reliable, comprehensive and up to date medically validated information covering health and wellbeing, disease, illness and treatment.

Employees can download the web app via their myWellbeing portal and save the link directly to their phone for quick access.

Pam Whelan, Director of Corporate at Simplyhealth
We know that people are often faced with long waiting times when trying to get a doctors’ appointment. Our enhanced GP access removes this barrier and enables employees to speak to an NHS practising GP at a time that suits them and in the most convenient way – whether that’s over the phone or via web cam*.

The CIPD /Simplyhealth Health and Well-being at Work Report 2018 revealed the average level of employee absence is 6.6 days per year, which has risen from 6.3 days in 2016. Having quick access to health professionals, such as a GPs, encourages employees to be more proactive about managing their health and wellbeing, enabling them to get health concerns addressed quickly before more serious problems occur, helping to reduce the number of days lost to sickness absence.

About Simplyhealth

Since 1872 we’ve been helping people get healthcare through our health plans, charity partnerships and by being a voice in healthcare.

Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading provider of health plans, dental plans and pet health plans, which help individuals, families, employees and pets to get support with their health when they need it.

Our health plans enable businesses to look after their employees, and make it easy for people to maintain their health and wellbeing, so they can look after business.

We offer two types of preventative health plans:

- Optimise: our health plan, covering a range of treatments including visits to the optician, dentist, 24/7 GP services and more

- Denplan: our dental plan, covering all clinically necessary treatments, routine examinations, hygiene treatments, plus cover for accidents and emergencies

We don’t have shareholders which means we are totally focused on making sure no one goes without the healthcare support they need, and why we are passionate about being a voice in healthcare and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality. Last year we donated £1.13 million to our charity partners which equates to over 10% of our pre-tax profits. Additionally, our partnership with the Simplyhealth Great Run Series raised over £40 million for charitable causes. To find out more visit www.simplyhealth.co.uk
