Simplyhealth welcomes Chancellor's decision to freeze IPT

In the Budget on Monday 29th October 2018 Chancellor Philip Hammond announced that insurance premium tax (IPT) rates are to remain at the current level of 12%.

Pam Whelan, Director of Corporate at Simplyhealth, said: “We’re pleased the Chancellor has frozen IPT again this year. This means millions of people who are proactively taking responsibility for their own health and, ultimately, relieving pressure on the NHS, won’t be penalised by paying even more in IPT. 

“Our health plans encourage people to manage their health by helping them see physiotherapists, dentists and opticians quickly. While we would ultimately like to see health plans exempt from IPT to make them affordable for more people, today’s freeze is a positive step forward.”
