Simplyhealth’s ‘Simply Food Fest’ community fundraising challenge supports local food banks

Staff at Simplyhealth have been stepping up to the mark to support local charities during the Coronavirus pandemic, with their most recent fundraising activity to support Andover Foodbank and Winchester Basics Banks.

Running various internal fundraising activities, the Simplyhealth team have created their latest activity titled ‘Simply Food Fest’, bringing festival culture, food and healthy recipes together to raise money for Andover Foodbank and Winchester Basics Bank. The community challenge involves members of staff sharing their photos internally of healthy drinks and dishes which unlocks a £5 donation for these local food banks, with a target of £2,500 each.

Both Andover Foodbank and Winchester Basics Bank have had their busiest months on record due to Coronavirus, distributing nearly double the amount of food boxes compared to this time last year.

At Simplyhealth, we donate 10% of our profits to charitable causes. This community fundraising challenge for our staff is a fun way to engage our employees through this difficult time, encourage healthier lifestyle choices and as a result, raise money for very worthy causes in our community.

In addition, we are also holding five healthy food webinars for our staff including a live cook-a-long session with Cook For Good, a not-for-profit social enterprise which supports local communities through food, where Simplyhealth has also recently donated £500.

The ‘Simply Food Fest’ is such a good idea and our thanks to everyone at Simplyhealth for supporting us through this initiative. COVID-19 has impacted everyone but it is particularly hard for those already living with financial insecurity. This support means we can continue to provide emergency food parcels and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

WBB is grateful for all the support we receive from Simplyhealth. It is particularly special to be included in this initiative which supports healthy eating alongside charitable giving. The donations raised will go to support the most needy in our community as we continue in these uncertain economic times, WBB welcomes everyone who may be finding it difficult to buy food as their circumstances change. We can be contacted via our website or our Facebook page.

Today we’re delighted to be the UK’s leading provider of health plans, dental plans and pet health plans, which help individuals, families, employees and pets to get support with their health when they need it.

We don’t have shareholders which means we are totally focused on making sure no one goes without the healthcare support they need, and why we are passionate about being a voice in healthcare and partnering with charities to reduce health inequality. We have a commitment to donate part of our pre-tax profits to charities or community projects each year and spread our donations across a wide range of healthcare-related charities.

In 2019 we became Official Healthcare Partner of England Rugby, a partnership that will help us deliver on our purpose and improve access to healthcare for the rugby community.
